Understanding memory utilization in molecular simulation

A Computer Architecture course project. We studied two aspects of molecular simulation that drive memory use — my first step into high-performance computing, where chemical engineering meets computer architecture.

ATOM Hackathon, UD

AMPL is an open-source pipeline for model building, data curation, and molecular property prediction. We analyzed how weight decay, a regularization hyperparameter, helps models generalize to test data.

NRT Hackathon – 3M

With the 3M team, built a diffusion-based workflow that generates in silico height maps with tunable features, optimized for target roughness and optical properties.

Molecular dynamics and Monte Carlo course

A graduate course in molecular simulation. I wrote Monte Carlo codes for several ensembles in C++, then ran molecular dynamics of a Jagla-potential fluid, using the radial distribution function to study its structure, local ordering, and phase behavior.

Process Analysis and Simulation of Production of p‑Aminophenol

Designed the full reaction and separation process for making para-aminophenol from nitrobenzene and hydrogen in ASPEN, then analyzed the plant’s economics: payback period and return on investment.

Synthesis of Quantum Dots

High-shear mixing of acetonitrile in a kitchen blender turned it from colorless to brownish-yellow. We set out to understand how this unwanted polymer–solvent interaction produces a dispersion of fluorescent carbon quantum dots.

Smart Sun Visor

A small windshield device that tracks the sun and moves a light-filtering disc over the brightest spot, so sudden glare doesn’t blind the driver. Built with Arduino, sensors, and 3D-printed parts.
